i have been trying to find information about the artist Rishe and came across your blog. Do you know much about the artist as i have his painting 'The Out Station'
Hi Rachel. Ewald Rishe lived at Bahrs Scrub, Queensland. He was known for his outback themed oil paintings in the Style of Hugh Sawrey. Prints of his work are available. One source described him as an "Australian artist on the rise". The Logan City Council extended condolences when he passed away 4th July, 2010, aged 65. It would be nice if you could upload a photo of "The Out Station". Warm regards.
Woody was a great friend and was a great person, he was a true artist with that eccentric personality, we had some fun times. he was straight up.He is sadly missed
:( Ewold Rishe (woody) as we called him.. rode and trained my nan and pops race horses until he passed away in my back yard last year. Towards the end of his life he hadn't painted as much. There were heaps of unfinished sketches in his house that hadnt been touched in ages. He was a man that didn't like to talk about his life, or his age so much. Most of the things that everyone knows now he had kept secret for over 30 years. Since he'd been working on my property. He was a good man, very opinionated. His best friends were horses and cats and wallabies and just animals in general. He originated from Austria from where he travelled and eventually landed in Australia. After his passing we waited months before there was a funeral because all his parents were doing was disputng over the money in his property and his paintings. He was leaving his property to the RACQ as a nature park for wildlife until he found out they were shooting horses from helicopters. Then he changed his mind. He was gone before he had even thought of a better option so the property sits there remaining untouched, just the way it should be. It was a really hard time in my life when this happened last year so i appolagise for the life story. As you know his paintings are no longer proceeding so whatever there is in this world is all there will ever be. You are blessed to have one of them i only hope you can try and understand that every one of his paintings was a place he saw, or a place he went.. a place he missed or a place he wanted to leave. Either way you have part of the story of his life in your home so take good care of it :)

Hello, I knew Woody for many years and he was a dear friend of mine and my family It came as a terrible shock when I heard he had passed away. I do have an original painting of his that I would like to sell. I am currently in Australia but have been living in Texas, USA for the past 24 years. I can be contacted at anniemcbrine@yahoo.com
Hi, I have one of his painting as well. It was purchased for $800 or so dollars in Queensland. It's a painting with stockmen at a camp fire with horses. Will take a picture if you want. I am thinking about selling it. Cheer,
http://1drv.ms/1tURLqP is a link to my onedrive with the front and back pics taken. My friend purchased it in Queensland while she was on holiday and she gave it to me when she was moving from Tasmania to the Northern Territory. I am hoping it is worth some money so I can sell it.
Hi John, I am not sure if you received the email I sent about the Rishe painting I have? If you are still interested, please email me direct at outbackpub1@aol.com ... You had contacted me on the 9th of May through my Yahoo email which I only check once in a blue moon. The aol email address is checked and used daily. Thank you, Wilma
Has any one got a photo of Woody Ewald Rishe ,I knew him years ago when he was with The Gold Coast Polo Crosse Club Ted Curtis you can find me on Face Book ...Thank you.
Woody taught me how to ride and shoe horses, and I taught him about Jesus. Because he lived opposite where I did at Bayes Rd. Logan Reserve, we would often spend evenings together - after I came home from work. He once said to me "I wish I could believe like you - but I just can't." I wish back then in 1980 I had known about the power available to us from God, to intercede for people like Woody through prayer.
I just inherited a large amount of paintings that my grandmother had collected. They are mostly of very famous Australian painters that I’ve been easily able to find information on. However she had also loved a painter that did oils of outback scenes and whilst i had grown up looking at these paintings and loving them i have only learned recently of the artist - it was Ewald Rishe. I now own 12 Rishe - 9 large and 3 medium sized. They are stunning and so evocative of outback life. I had some of the other paintings in the collection recently taken away to be cleaned and the art restorer saw the Rishes on my wall and he offered to buy the whole collection and I didn’t even hesitate. No. They are staying just where they are. I look at them all the time and he certainly was a talented artist and i feel lucky to now be able to look at them every day.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know Woody was such a lover of nature. That's great! I would love to see some more of Woody Rishe's paintings if possible some day.
