Millennium?

The order of events taught in the Gospels and Epistles:

Cross (devil 'judged'; spiritual Kingdom inaugurated; believers 'raised' to spiritual life)

preaching the Gospel

fall of Temple/Jerusalem (AD70);

continued preaching of the Gospel (amid persecution, distress of nations);

the last trumpet (Second Coming, resurrection, final judgment, new heavens and earth).

No Millennium?

So if I make Revelation fit that framework, then I could think Revelation's thousand year reign may symbolise the fact that:

despite persecution, martyrdom and natural death, we believers are unharmed by Satan spiritually;

we 'live' spiritually and reign with Christ spiritually whether in life or in death (that could be the first spiritual 'resurrection'),

and then after an indeterminately long period of time, on the last day, we shall physically live again (after the general, bodily, 'second' resurrection) and then we'll inherit the Kingdom in the new earth, after the wicked and the devil have been finally judged.
