Past, Present and Future Prophecy?

Someone wrote to me today saying that:

"the same passage can have parts of it fufilled at present and others in the future..or like how a lot of people of Jesus' day thought He was going to do the things he did in the gospel and the things that He will do at his second coming all at the same time".

She gave an example:

"Like in Isaiah 63:1-6 where its partially fufilled in Matt 12:22-29 and Col 2:15 and then finished in Rev 19:11".

And continued:

"I think of the Pharisees, who albeit had greed and power hungry selfishness as much of their problem, but ALSO had a very dogmatic approach to prophecy that helped them totally miss the Messiah.

I think it goes back to what the Holy Spirit said through Peter:

19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed... See More, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." (2 peter 1)

and then the fact that almost every prayer we see Paul praying for the Church he prayed that we would KNOW:

"That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him" (eph 1)

"(that you) may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. " (eph 3)

9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;" (col 1)

and finally balance that with what John wrote:

24 Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life.
26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. 27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will[e] abide in Him. (1 John 2)"

Is it possible for us to decipher what is past, present and future prophecy in a given passage of Scripture though?
