What Paul Meant by Not Being Under the Law

Paul didn't teach Gentile believers that they didn't have to be concerned with living righteously and lovingly. He didn't teach them they could live sinfully.

It's just that he taught them that they didn't have to adopt the whole Mosaic way of doing things, with all its rituals, ceremonies, and observations.

That never justified anyone nor empowered anyone deeply.

But trusting in Jesus justified them, and walking in His Holy Spirit caused them to do good and to live right.

So not being under the law meant they weren't using the Mosaic system as an entire system. It didn't mean they weren't expected to live morally.

It was expected that they would live morally through the power of Jesus Christ.
