Isaiah 60 Fulfilled

Some say Isaiah 60 prophesies a grandiose future for the State of Israel.

But it must have been fulfilled during the Old Covenant.

It mentions Gentiles coming to Israel, but Jesus said the time has come when the true worshipers would no longer come to Jerusalem.

It mentions them bringing incense, but incense is not part of New Covenant worship.

It mentions them coming to the altar, but the altar does not exist and is not part of New Covenant worship.

It mentions the house of God, but the Temple no longer exists and is not part of New Covenant worship.

It is all very Jerusalem-centred, but Paul said our worship is heavenly-Jerusalem centred.

It mentions no more sun or moon, then mentions the sun and moon shall never go down - which is obviously symbolic language.

The prophecy was fulfilled during Old Covenant times. The Jews were regathered from Babylonian captivity. The Temple was rebuilt. Gentiles assisted. By Christ's time the Temple was beautified even more. All nations were coming to worship.

The stage was perfectly set for Isaiah 61 to come to pass, and it did. Jesus read the scroll of Isaiah 61 and said, "This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears".
